Sie wurde speziell für die kälteren Klima Zonen designed. (-5°C) Des weiteren kann man die Jacke auf links drehen, so dass man das indian-orange farbene Innenfutter, zur besseren Sichtbarkeit im Notfall verwenden konnte. So konnten abgestürzte Piloten einfacher lokalisiert werden und schnell von Rettungsteams gefunden werden. Die MA-1 wurde 1959 vorgestellt und Piloten wurden bis 1977 mit dieser Jacke ausgestattet. Sogar Chuck Yeager trug diese Jacke als er die Schallmauer durchbrach. Die einmalige Qualität entsteht durch die perfekt abgestimmten Näh-Abschnitte in der Produktion jeder einzelnen Alpha MA-1.
